AT KUDADOO PRIVATE ISLAND AND HURAWALHI MALDIVES

With the variety of options for intimate weddings in private settings, Kudadoo Private Island and Hurawalhi Island Resort in the Maldives’ Lhaviyani Atoll have seen a 50% increase in bookings from couples, looking to create perfect memories to last a lifetime.
Bradley Calder, General Manager of Kudadoo and Hurawalhi says, “Privacy has become the ultimate luxury in today’s environment and for couples wanting to stay away from large gatherings, Kudadoo – with only 15 rooms and Hurawalhi – with the option to marry in our 5.8 Undersea Restaurant as well as on our own ‘Dream Island’ – are the perfect considerations for an intimate destination wedding or a bucket-list worthy honeymoon, or indeed both!”
Exceptional service is another marker in the world of luxury hospitality. Bradley Calder remarks, “My approach to luxury hospitality is to map the service sequence for each and every guest experience and to see how we can make it as effortless as possible for the guest.
Both Kudadoo and Hurawalhi offer couples a dedicated Butler and Island Host. The Butler and Island Hosts proactively look after their guests and are on call to look after the couple’s needs throughout their stay.

Weddings
At both Kudadoo Private Island and Hurawalhi Island Resort, a dedicated wedding planner is on hand for the entirety of the planning process to tailor the wedding to the couple’s needs from wedding photography, fine dining, beauty and wellbeing treatments, live entertainment, decoration and the all-important wedding cake.
Couples have the choice of a variety of ceremony venues at both resorts from:
5.8 Undersea Wedding: Exchange vows at the world’s largest undersea restaurant and you may have some unexpected wedding guests show up to pique their curiosity from behind the glass!
Beach wedding on Dream Island: If guests choose this tiny sandbank for their ceremony the bride or groom will walk down an aisle of powder white sand surrounded by the turquoise lagoon before exchanging vows with their loved one.
Ocean wedding: Onboard Bella, the resorts’ luxury yacht exchange vows surrounded by the ocean blue.
Champagne Pavilion: Add some sparkle to the ceremony and exchange vows at this oceanside hideaway. With a bit of luck, the passing dolphins may put on a special spinning, twisting and jumping performance as couples say, “I do”.
Private island buyout: The wedding party can ‘own’ their own private island for ultimate privacy by taking the island buyout option at Kudadoo. At Kudadoo, the newlyweds and all wedding guests will have access to personal butlers available 24 hours a day to ensure the party never stops.

Honeymoons
Both resorts have some of the largest private overwater villas in the Maldives, providing the perfect space to take in the sunset. Couples can also indulge in:
Luxury sailing: For a romantic and adventure-filled day, enjoy the views and underwater marvels that the Lhaviyani Atoll is renowned for.
Escape to a private island: For ultimate privacy a sandbank with coral sand and the balmy waves of the Indian Ocean.
Pampering at the spa: Sense-seducing massages, beauty treatments and romantic indulgences for couples – there is no shortage of spa and well-being treatments.
Candlelit dinner on the beach: Dining experience under the stars, with romantic music, that is best enjoyed with a carefully selected wine pairing menu.
Floating Champagne breakfast: This unique breakfast experience is in the intimacy of your pool villa.
Anything, Anytime, Anywhere: From delightful culinary creations, to unlimited leisure activities and wellness, the ultimate luxury itinerary will be curated with the assistance of a personal butler.
Professional photographs: Keep precious honeymoon moments alive with stunning photographs.

HONEYMOON IN LUXURY ON THE ISLAND OF ANGUILLA

With spectacular white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, a vibrant culinary scene and a laid-back lifestyle, Anguilla is the quintessential tropical getaway. Anguilla’s villas have long been favoured by those who holiday there, including many famous faces, because of guaranteed luxury, seclusion, and discretion they afford.

The paradise Caribbean island of Anguilla has welcomed Alkera, a new, state-of-the-art villa, to the roster of incredible places holidaymakers can hire for an unforgettable getaway.

Cresting the Shoal Bay East hillside and boasting enviable views of the Caribbean Sea, Alkera overlooks internationally renowned stretches of immaculate white sand, and offers privacy, serenity and a striking design for up to ten guests.
A contemporary architectural gem, the villa masterfully blends indoor and outdoor living, with expansive glass panels, soaring ceilings and an open concept, so the island’s brilliant sunrises and sunsets can be enjoyed inside and out. The villa’s living areas transition to an outdoor patio space leading to a heated infinity pool with floating island platform, which then meets the ocean view.
An outdoor kitchen, bar and dining area is set amidst the lush gardens, with tucked-away hammocks and seating areas for moments of mindfulness, an open-air shower and an indoor garden, which all accentuate Alkera’s indoor/outdoor identity.
Inside, the decor of the five-bedroom, six-bathroom villa exudes a fun and modern energy, with bold colour pairings of ocean blue patterns and hues. Each bedroom’s decor is unique, with varying amenities including expansive glass panel doors, panoramic ocean views, walk-in closets, walk-out patios, self-contained kitchen units and opulent ensuites.
A striking aspect of Alkera’s design is buried just below its surface. Literally built on Anguilla’s limestone rock, a partially underground recreational area features exposed limestone, vaulted ceilings and earthy tones, creating a starkly contrasting escape.
Guests will also love the main kitchen where no expense has been spared, the generously outfitted gym and cosy office with ocean views.

Rebelle Romantique

Rebelle Romantique

Presenting the new ‘Rebelle Romantique’ collection by luxury British Bridal brand Alyce Jayne. A collection of bridal gowns and separates inspired by vintage and historical fashion with a swan lake vibe. Creating a modern fairytale look for the modern romantic rebel, the tiers of tulle, corsetry features and satin fuse together with polka dots and puff sleeves to create a collection of unique options for the modern bride.

Based in Glasgow, Scotland, Alyce Jayne offers made to order collection garments as well as bespoke options. The shoot features garments in ivory and black, however, all pieces have customisation options.
For the shoot designer Alison Malcolm worked alongside Scottish photographer Danielle Christine, hairdresser Una Boag and make up artist Leigh Blaney to create this modern vintage look. Accessories designer Victoria Louise Accessories completed the looks with her beautiful modern luxe earrings. Looking like an edgy Audrey Hepburn, model Robyn Malcolm was perfect for the modern vintage vibe.
“Having worked with all of these talented ladies before, I knew they would understand the look I wanted for the collection shoot. When I shared some sneak peeks on Instagram Victoria and I were messaging each other at the same time to collaborate on the shoot! Victoria’s hand made bridal jewellery is absolutely beautiful. I knew they would complement the collection perfectly. I love Danielle’s beautiful light, elegant photography style. Her luxury modern images are gorgeous, I have been a fan since we first worked together on a shoot at the beginning of the year. Una’s bridal hair is so creative and beautifully styled. She is also a lover of modern vintage looks and came up with two gorgeous styles for the shoot. Leigh’s make up is always amazing, making her clients look and feel beautiful and glamorous on their special day. My daughter Robyn stepped in at the last minute to be our model and absolutely nailed it. She was made to wear these gowns!”

The new collection will be available to order on the website from January 2022 and from selected stockist in the Spring.

Picture-perfect Paradise

Picture-perfect Paradise

With its exclusive resorts, fine dining and some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, the uncrowded, unspoiled island of Anguilla is the ideal destination for a memorable honeymoon.

Beautiful hotels and villas, candlelit dining, couple’s spa treatments and exotic locations combine to create a tropical paradise for couples in love.
Many of the island’s exceptional hotels provide the picture-perfect spot for a memorable honeymoon. Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel, one of the most romantic resorts in the Caribbean, is loved for its calm, relaxed atmosphere and its resort suites that open right up onto Maundays Bay.
Or for an alternative, more private experience than a hotel, there are many stylish, intimate villas bookable for an intimate honeymoon experience. The oceanfront Fletch’s Cove has been thoughtfully designed for comfortable living both indoors and out. Folding doors from the two-bedroom villa open to the pool terrace, offering stunning views of the ocean and surrounding islands. Honeymooners can follow a short footpath to a small, secluded beach on the south coast, but they are also close to popular beaches, restaurants & other island attractions.
With views of tropical sunsets each night, Spyglass Hill Villa offers an elegant and relaxed setting just for two. Couples will feel the natural warmth of wood throughout, from authentic bamboo floors to the beach driftwood décor. The open-air courtyard will entice honeymooners with its hand-carved Anguilla stone walls, large terrace and infinity-edge pool that gives the illusion of water cascading into the Caribbean Sea.
For added romance on the island, lovers can book a relaxing, rejuvenating couple’s massage at one of Anguilla’s luxury hotel spas. Bookable by guests and non-guests alike, options range from the traditional Thai houses at Zemi Beach House Resort & Spa, to the stylish Malliouhana Spa at Malliouhana, Auberge Resorts Collection, and The Spa at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla. All offer spa packages, ideal for couples, with private suites or poolside cabana treatments.
Other romantic honeymoon ideas include lunch on a private island such as Sandy Island or Prickly Pear, hiking and exploring the 80-acre Katouche estate – often referred to as the “rainforest” of Anguilla, or seeing the beauty of the tropical sea at night with Liquid Glow’s LED transparent kayaks, which attract tropical fish while the couple paddles.
Love is always in the air in Anguilla, so
much so that the website for the Anguilla Tourism Board has a suggested Romance Itinerary, with ideas for couples, including sunset strolls, dancing and bar-hopping, horseback riding, sunset cruises, private dinners and chilled beach shack lunches
with toes in the sand.
From strolling along secluded beaches hand-in-hand, to taking a private boat trip around the 37.9 miles of shoreline, Anguilla offers romance to the max.

Bold & Beautiful

This shoot is centred around Alyce Jayne Bridal’s custom made black dress. Aiming for a gothic vibe but with a touch of warmer autumn accents.

Susan from Wedding Flowers by Susan styled this stunning bridal shoot, here is her inspiration;

“Back in January, before the pandemic, I met two fabulous ladies at the Confetti awards, and I just knew I had to work with them on a creative project. Alison of Alyce Jane Bridal was just starting her dress making business after years of teaching others, and I just loved her beautiful, alternative designs, based around gorgeous Victorian Style Corsetry. When I met Nicky of NJ Miller Millinery, she was sporting the most amazing peacock feather hat and cape and I fell in love with her style and design. Fast forward a few months , I wanted to get out there and create something inspiring for myself and other industry suppliers feeling the same creative low.
When it came to styling the shoot, I knew I wanted a dark, moody feel but without the obvious Halloween vibe. I went for blacks and neutral tones for the fabrics and flowers and brought in burnished golds and soft peaches to soften the edges. The use of antique furniture created the perfect backdrop to our modern Gothic theme. I am passionate about recycling and up-cycling and the idea for the ladder arch actually came from a client who had considered something similar for her own wedding. Taking the rather tatty ladder and adding some lush, soft black velvet, lace drapes and florals resulted in a stunning backdrop finished off by the venue’s amazing open fire.”

The thoughts from the team of creative suppliers for this shoot…

DRESS – ALYCE JAYNE BRIDAL
Inspired by a boho Gothic vibe Victorian corset with rouched tulle overlay, satin fishtail skirt and optional tulle bustle. After teaching fashion for the past 6 years as well as taking on bespoke commissions I had just decided to go for it and launch Alyce Jayne Bridal in December of last year. I had just got the momentum going, attending bridal fayres, starting to take out ads in magazines, attending bridal award ceremonies where I met Susan! Then lockdown happened and everything ground to a halt. When Susan contacted me about collaborating on a shoot I was over the moon and couldn’t wait to be creative again! Susan showed me some rustic summer boho vibe images and when I started researching this I kept seeing darker versions of this and my design ended up taking more of a romantic Gothic direction including a Victorian corset with tulle rouching and fit and flare skirt.

HAIR – BLUSH BY UNA BOAG
I am a hairdresser who has really been missing doing wedding hair this season, so it was lovely to be able to be creative again! It was also amazing to be working with such a great team on a project which I feel really suited my personal style!

HATS – NJ MILLER MILLINERY
It was so much fun to design head wear that wasn’t traditionally bridal. I was really excited to get involved with this small team to create a Gothic inspired bridal shoot. My vision was head pieces with the dark mood theme, and incorporate an element of Regal in the form of contemporary crowns and top hat. I used fabrics that were heavier in appearance, whilst still keeping a bridal feel, adding veiling and light catching crystal beadwork.

VENUE – ROODLEA BARN
A rustic yet luxurious barn style venue, nestled in the beautiful South Ayrshire countryside surrounded by nature and greenery. Roodlea Barn offers a truly unique ceremony space with a combination of rustic stone walls, vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, cozy fires and stunning chandeliers.

CAKE – ROSEWOOD CAKES
A dramatic black cake was the clear choice for an atmospheric shoot with Gothic and burlesque undertones, and fitting with the venue. Barn weddings generally have a boho/rustic style for cakes, so we took the unusual choice of decorating the cake with the beautiful fresh and dried flowers rather than sugar. The copper tones and wheat stencil gave modern, boho detailing, and allowed the reflection of flickering candlelight

STATIONERY – MY EDEN ROSE
When Susan showed me her floral antler necklace I knew straight away that I wanted to focus the stationery on my bison skull illustration as it would compliment her vision for the shoot perfectly. He is a permanent feature on our living room wall and I’d previously created this illustration with a boho vibe featuring vintage earthy florals. For this Gothic inspired shoot I decided to create an all black version which would take centre stage in all the printed pieces. I opted for subtle, pearlised nude tones for the paper stock with a soft white vellum for the menus, paired with a textured grey to add some romance! I’m a huge fan of mixing font styles so for the typography I chose an elegant, modern calligraphy font coupled with a strong classic serif in black. I also incorporated some wax seals in brassy gold, soft blush and black to add a hint of glamour.

MAKEUP ARTIST – LEIGH BLANEY
Leigh jumped at the chance to work on this shoot with a bunch of great creatives. The overall feel was dark, moody with rich autumn winter berry shades and lavish golds.
I chose dark raspberry and purples with shimmery golds for Hannah’s green/hazel eyes, complimenting her and all the colour accents in the decor, flowers etc. Gorgeous. Glowing skin by Charlotte Tilbury products, my fave. A dark plum lip bringing out her gothic queen side. Her king had some guy-liner and manscara too!

NIHI SUMBA

Wild horses wouldn’t keep you away!

Whether you are a passionate horseperson or simply a lover of nature and wildlife, the wedding celebrations at award winning Nihi Sumba will open your eyes to the beauty of Sumba’s most famous wild residents.

You do not have to be a horse rider to appreciate the incredible power and sensitive nature of the horse. Horse connection is now widely recognised as a beneficial therapy treating corporate stress and post covid re-adjustment alike and there is nothing more calming than being immersed into the herd on your wedding day.
At NIHI Sumba, the 20 strong herd of wild horses are willing participants in all the aspects of the wedding event from the proposal all the way through to the wedding ceremony.
From a sunset ride to the initial proposal to transporting the bride and groom in style on their wedding day – they have even been known to play football on the beach with wedding reception guests.
For a pre wedding relaxation, Sandalwood Stables invite guests to take part in some peaceful yoga and mindfulness on horseback. Ideal for the bride’s party, the yoga sessions invite guests to become fully present in both the horse’s movement and their own through gentle stretching, breathing and stillness whilst connecting with the magical creature that is so well versed at channeling to this calm state of being.
The Nihi proposal package includes experiences with equal parts romance, indulgence, culture and passion. Couples are invited to ride along the famous Nihiwatu beach into the sunset where a cocktail awaits -the most breath-taking backdrop for a proposal- or they can choose a table under the stars with just the lapping of the ocean for company.
For Honeymooners looking for a truly unforgettable experience, NIHI Sumba fits the profile perfectly. The whole of NIHI Sumba is a romantic destination and offers an ideal post covid escape with miles of lush green jungle to explore with your loved one.
For a once-in-a-lifetime transformational experience, romantics are advised to spend a night at Villa Rahasia, the ultimate honeymoon villa. The only villa situated within NIHI Spa Safari’s boundaries of rolling rice fields, Rahasia allows guests to feel as if they have an entire resort unto themselves. With unobstructed views of the Indian Ocean, a plunge pool, several private dining or spa treatments, bush-cooked meals over an open fire, colourful sunsets, and plenty of nearby hiking, Villa Rahasia is a lover’s paradise.
The price starts from £3550 (minimum 3-night stay for two pax) inclusive of 21% tax with one night at Villa Rahasia and two nights at NIHI Sumba (the resort).

The proposal package includes
Sunset Horse Ride
Bottle of champagne
Private dining under the stars with fireworks
Locally handcrafted gift

Black Panther Inspires Luxe Wedding Shoot on Livingstone Island, Zambia

Mwai Yeboah of Love From Mwai radiates strength and creativity as a proud Zambian woman and multi-awarding winning wedding planner. She recently channelled her immense wells of energy into conceptualising and carrying out a wedding editorial at one of Southern Africa’s most famous natural and cultural heritage sites – Victoria Falls and Livingstone Island, Zambia. It’s here, on what feels like the top of the world, that Mwai brought to life a celebration worthy of royalty and inspired by the internationally-acclaimed film, Black Panther.
Livingstone Island sits at the heart of Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya or ‘The Smoke That Thunders’. This waterfall is the largest curtain of falling water in the world, and the combination of power and beauty that makes up any Victoria Falls experience is the reason that it has been named one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. What place more perfectly epitomises the bold contrasts of love, and the courage to take the plunge to marry and spend life together?
The wedding ceremony was a gorgeous curation of luxe outfits for the bride and groom, vibrant shweshwe, skins and feathers for wedding guests, and offerings of local botanicals, fruits and vegetables. It all took place on the edge of a cliff that drops into the Batoka Gorge, against a backdrop of luscious greenery, rocky outcrops, and the spray and rushing sounds of the Falls. The festivities highlighted the nuances of Zambian culture and nature, while also pulling through strong elements of Wakanda, the fictional sub-Saharan African country in Black Panther.

Mwai has travelled the world, designing highly bespoke weddings for couples in diverse locations, but her heart remains firmly in Zambia and the people that call it home. She put together this extraordinary set with the teams of Tongabezi Lodge and Sindabezi Island Camp, which are both found a few kilometres upstream of Victoria Falls on the Zambezi Riverbanks.
Tongabezi then threw a Wakanda-inspired feast at their main lodge for Mwai and her wedding team, complete with fruit and vegetables from their own organic garden, and the day ended with a female empowerment shoot on the river decks overlooking the Zambezi.

A magical celebration

A magical celebration

For Tori & Winston a more intimate gathering and stunning backdrop created an emotional and magical day.

Tori & Winston tell us their story:

Can you tell me about your theme if you had one, the inspiration behind it and how you incorporated it into your wedding? We had a sort of colour theme which was autumnal, gingers and warm oranges. We also went for a country/rustic style. We incorporated this by having warm orange/toffee roses, mixed with a sorry of floral greens within my bouquet, button hole flowers, table decorations and the flower arch.
We also had orange and green appear in many of the outfits – my wedding shoes were glittery orange, my husband wore a green waistcoat and paisley orange tie, my father wore an orange waistcoat etc.
Alongside these elements we had plain linen table cloths, multiple candles and gold charging plates that tied the whole theme and aesthetic together.
What first drew you to your wedding venue? We have always loved Scotland and the lochs have such picturesque scenery that we knew we wanted to find somewhere with them as the backdrop.
The air bnb we found was perfect in size and location alongside being in great condition with everything we needed.
What was the atmosphere like on the big day? Very emotional, magical and simply perfect. With just a few of us, everything was calm and joyous with the focus being on us celebrating the day with those closest to us rather than a spectacle for the sake of guests.
We feel so lucky to have had such a blissful day.

Who was your chosen Photographer and why did you choose them? We had both a photographer and videographer. We chose Gryffe Weddings as we wanted someone local and were impressed by the other films/ photographs they had captured which were both high quality and natural looking.
We were thoroughly delighted with their photographs and film.
What was the most memorable part of your day? With so many lovely moments from starting the day with a swim in Gare Loch to having our dog howl to the sound of the bagpipes as I entered for the ceremony, it is difficult to decide but if only selecting one I would say it was the intimate almost secret dance my husband and I shared after the wedding breakfast. Nothing will compare to being held in my new husbands arms after such an overwhelmingly magic day.
